Week #75 - A Sad Car and Lots of Crazy Run Around!

Let me start out by saying we had the weirdest thing happen with our new car!  I was just starting to drive and turned and all the sudden the car would not go!  I couldn't understand why?  My comp got out of the car and looked around and gave me a funny look.  Somehow both tires were facing inward.  He explained it like they were sad and crying.  Well, a car does not drive well when the tires face in so we had to get help from our guy that helps with the vehicles.  We waited all day.  He said that a piece broke from all the rough roads we drive on.  One little piece and the tires turned in.  It was a miracle that we were not driving fast when this happened or he said the car would have rolled for sure.

Tuesday - Monday night President called and said another rain storm was coming so we better make sure the missionaries will be ok.  So we drove around Tuesday to check their homes and warn the missionaries and make sure they had water and food and were safe.  Luckily, the storm never came.

Wednesday - We had a Mozambique missionary with us for a few days who we had to help get things for his mission.  When i went to Maputo I was supposed to deliver the document to the Mission President.  I completely forgot!  I left it in my bag.  President Senna was not happy with me.  So he said I had to pay for it myself!  They didn't cost too much, but I felt real bad!

Thursday - President set up to have interviews with my Zone.  So I set it up on my account.  it was supposed to go from 1500 - 1800, but they didn't end until 2200.  When my companion and I went to get on the power dropped so we didn't get to meet with President yet.  He said we will do it this week.

Friday - Teaching has been slow, I hope we can spend more time with it.  We have Ancha, Phillip, and Domingo who are ready for Baptism.  We were excited that we ended with 65 people baptized this month in the zone.  We beat our goal!  The missionaries are working so hard, they really are.  This next month we set our goal for 56 baptisms.

Saturday - At night we have to call all the missionaries and make sure they are in their home and safe before we can go to bed.  We called all of them, but one of them was not answering.  We called a few more times, nothing!  it was 2230 and we knew we had to get over there and make sure they were ok.  It makes you nervous. When we opened the door they were sleeping and everything was fine.  They did not hear the phone and forgot to call in.  We were tired, but at least they were safe.

Sunday - We drove to Dondu 2 times.  I lost my missionary plaque. It dropped somewhere in my moving around.  I have tried to order one months ago, but it has not worked or come.

We need to look for alot of people to teach.  They fixed our road to our home, they plowed it.  After the rain it gets bad again.  They filled in the hole in front of the church.  During all the pouring rain there were huge holes.  I saw a man walking and then the water was up to his neck.  We saw a car stuck in a hole and we helped tow him out. We may be getting phones soon.  President has been telling us we might get phones.  I hope so, but who knows.  We drive and drive and sometimes I miss teaching the people, but I am grateful I am not walking for 10-12 hrs a day, so I am blessed.

Com Amor,
Elder Rees
