Week #58 - We Can Walk with CHRIST!!

Image
We have done lots of running around this week.  I have started to learn how to drive a stick shift.  Other than starting and stopping it is no problem, haha. We still have our own area and we get up and teach people in the morning and then come back for lunch and then usually have to drive to help other missionaries and drive to the airport.   Thursday we met with the District Leaders and did interviews for the people they are preparing for Baptism.  It is cool to sit across from someone who has just learned the gospel and ask them questions and have them share with me their feelings and testimony.   We drove to the airport a few different times this week picking up missionaries and getting them to their area and delivering bedding and supplies to the missionaries.  We are the ones that have to drive to get paperwork for peoples weddings and things like that too. In my area we have been working with lots of people and we will have 8 bapti...

Week #57 - I will Go & Do!

Esta semana foi louco!  (This Week Was Crazy!!) What a week to report!  We were on divisions all week with the ZL's because I still don't have my companion.  It still went well.  We walked in the area and  got in some good vists but mostly this week I have just been in other areas. It was kinda cool we had to go to the train station way late to drop of Elder Nilson and his comp. That was the sad part of my week though. So they are in an area that is a 12 hour train ride to get there.  Weeks before the ZL's had prepared and got them 1st class tickets.  The missionary did not arrive so they called again and secured their ticket.  Again, no new companion.  His companion showed up finally this week on Tuesday.  I did not realize how bad the train ride really is in 3rd class.  We did everything to get them into 2nd or 1st class when we dropped them off.  It did not work.  Police shove people, the people run like cra...

Week #56 - The Kids here are so Great!

THIS IS THE LIZARD THESE BOYS CAUGHT This week was a pretty good week!! I still don't have my companion yet.  He is in Maputo and the office has informed me that he will be coming tomorrow.  I look forward to meeting him.  We may be able to pick him up from the airport.  I've been with Elder Nelson for the week. He is from South Weber and is way cool!  We have been doing a great deal of travel to make it to our 2 separate zone conferences.  Both of us are getting new missionaries so we are trying to work both of our areas this week. At zone conference we had such a spiritual meeting about our temple and family history.   The mission has a new goal to start sending names to the temple.  Our big goal here is to get a temple so we are going to help the members learn how to find their family names.  We were asked to meet with new members and each of us help at least one member find 40 names for Temple Work!!  Presient Senna ...

Week #55 - A New Companion from South Africa is coming!

W ow what a week!!  I t started out pretty good.  We had some great visits and we really were just preparing our people for batismo.  Next week we have about 4 people ready and 6 others have baptismal dates set.  I'm way pumped! Sunday we walked around as usual to gather people and remind them to come to church.  The people don't really work on a clock.  So we wake up and start walking EARLY!!  We tell them that it is time for them to be ready and leave for church at least 1 hour before church starts.  If we don't remind people and go door to door then when sacrament meeting begins we only have 10 people there.  By the end of the meeting there are 200!  So... we are learning the secrets to helping people get to church.  Yesterday we had 13 investigators with us!  So grateful!!   Elder Goncalvas & I had two men that were baptized - Edrice & Jovel.  Both are 21 years old.  They were so open to learn a...

Week #54 - The Lord helps you Face your Fears!

W ow this week was awesome!!  It started out with divisions this past Tuesday.  I was with a Mozambican, Elder Kene.  He's way cool.  He is only here temporarily and then heads to another area.  So Tuesday was a normal day.  We were just preparing our person for baptism.   Nothing crazy has happened this week.  Tuesday and Wednesday were just normal days just finding, teaching, and walking.  Thursday we went on divisions again.  I was with Elder Goncalves.  I stayed with him for a while.  President Senna called on Saturday and we had to stay in our house because of elections in Beira.  The streets are crazy here during elections.  Tons of people singing, dancing, yelling, and stuff.  So we went to the church to try and watch a church video.  We were going to chill for a bit there. Then the energy went out!  It is crazy how often the energy goes out! We were still able to have our baptism...
