Week #54 - The Lord helps you Face your Fears!
Wow this week was awesome!!
It started out with divisions this past Tuesday. I was with a Mozambican, Elder Kene. He's way cool. He is only here temporarily and then heads to another area. So Tuesday was a normal day. We were just preparing our person for baptism.
Nothing crazy has happened this week. Tuesday and Wednesday were just normal days just finding, teaching, and walking. Thursday we went on divisions again. I was with Elder Goncalves. I stayed with him for a while. President Senna called on Saturday and we had to stay in our house because of elections in Beira. The streets are crazy here during elections. Tons of people singing, dancing, yelling, and stuff. So we went to the church to try and watch a church video. We were going to chill for a bit there. Then the energy went out! It is crazy how often the energy goes out!
We were still able to have our baptism with Aliza, a sweet older lady. We've been teaching her for awhile. It took time for her to learn. It has gone really slow. but we have been doing tons of lessons with her to prepare, but she did it!! She was so excited, but when she got to the Baptism she became extremely nervous. I felt so bad when I was baptizing her. She was so scared to go under the water. It took us 5 times for her to go all the way under. The water level is no higher than my knees, so that is one of the big problems. The water is brown because of the dirt floor underneath. She has worked so hard to learn the gospel and has a strong testimony. The 4th time I tried to baptize her I was finally sitting in the water, instead of kneeling, and had my arms cradling her so she felt protected and knew she would come back up. She grabbed me so tight that she pulled me in too! Finally the 5th time it worked! I think the Lord knew that she could not take anymore and somehow she was fully immersed in the water. Truly, these people are amazing. She faced her greatest fear because she wants to be a member of Christ's True Church on the Earth!! On Sunday she bore her testimony and talked and talked about how grateful she is to be a member and her appreciation for us. She is a kind woman.
Transfers are this next week and I am not sure what will happen. I love my area. This is a special place. The children are so fun here. I tried a magic
Thanks for the prayers! I love this work. It is true and I continue to witness miracles of the Lord pouring out on the people of Mozambique. I know He lives!! He is here with the people. I can't wait for transfers this week. I'm thinking some things will change but we will see, Thanks!
