Week #9 - The Destruction Would Make You Cry

Image
Wow its been a crazy week!  Service, tracting, and a few lessons here and there.  I don`t even know where to start... All Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Elder Nate and I bike around Tallahassee.  One thing that is kind of difficult about Tallahassee Florida is that is isn't flat! It is hill after h ill and tons of up and down.  So ya I bike everyday. I'm dead tired.  The work here is tough but its coming slowly. Most of the people here always say they have Jesus and they don't need anything else.  It is often hard to answer them because once you try they just close the door on you or something like that.  A crazy thing that happened this week - Elder Nate and I got into a Bible bash! haha It was kinda fun actually.  A man came up to us and told us to tell him everything about the after life.  He would then just deny it so it didn't go on to long, but it was kinda cool to see excitement in someone when we talked about ...

Week #8 - Welcome to the FTM (Florida Tallahassee Mission)

This has been an awesome week.. my first official week in the Field.   It’s been the craziest week ever!     I wish I could just talk to you about it, but I will do my best in writing. To start it out my trainer Elder Nate is so great I love him.  The craziest part is he is a SPANISH ELDER so i`m teaching in Spanish now!! It is so helpful to be with the Spanish Elders it helps so much with my Portuguese.    In our apartment its me, Elder Nate, Elder Barney (he was the 3rd Mozambique missionary at the MTC ( the one in the trio at the end), and Elder Meyer who is headed home in 6 weeks. But something crazy you will have to tell Kaden is that we have banana spiders !! They are so big. In Florida they have these massive spiders, enormous.   Maybe bigger than my hand.   I saw one in the shower yesterday.  We do tons of tracking and tons of dinners with members in the Spanish branch.   I don`t know any Spanish so I...

Week #7 - I am headed to Tallahassee Florida!

Tallahassee Florida Flag Ola, I’m still at the MTC!  Mas eu dexio amanha!! (But tomorrow)   I’m so excited! Our flight departs at 11am and I will be going to Tallahasse Florida for a transfer.   I heard there was a hurricane and a lot of destruction, but they have not told us anything at the MTC about it.   Do you know how things look in Tallahassee?  I wonder if they will be needing some help.  I don’t know much about the mission other than it is a large mission and part of it goes into Georgia.   T his week has been a week of ups and downs and tons of personal study. With only 3 elders left from the two districts it’s been a bit hard. And then to hear that we are not going straight to Mozambique was tough. But when we saw in the mail that we were temporarily resigned to Florida I was so excited! I can`t even explain in words how pumped I am to get out in the field! I`m pouco (a little) worried about losing Portuguese t...

Week #6 - Wow!! Craziest week of my Life!!

On Thursday I learned that we did not get our visa’s to go to Mozambique.   It is official.   If I don’t receive my visa by Oct 11th then I am headed to Tallahassee, Florida on Oct 15 th .   Other than that, Elder Hancock and I don’t really know much.   It is only a temporary assignment so eventually I will end up in Mozambique.  We might get our Visa like today, or next week,or whenever we get it we will head to Mozambique as soon as they can send us. Life is pretty crazy here with all the run around and changes.   Mas the lingua (but the language) is coming and I’m nervous if I go state side any Portuguese I have been learning will leave me.. Eu Saber O Deus E om Meu side .. ( I know the Lord is on my side)  Another part of my Crazy Week!   To start off, last night our building got evacuated because there was a gas leak! We got evacuated at around midnight. Kinda freaky.   Elder Hedquist (CJ’s good friend from Da...

Week #5 Tudo Bem (How are you?)

Image
Ola Tudo Bem (Hello, How are you?)   One more week! I leave Monday morning so today is my last P-day! But, Friday and Saturday I can email:) The mission President said we could because it’s our last P-day... so if anyone wants to send me a email I’ll still be in America for a week!  Its kind of scary to realize I am leaving so soon.   I don`t feel ready nor does anyone in my district.   Especially with our Portuguese, but we all know Dom De Linguas (the Gift of Tongues) is real.  Anyw ay my flight plans are crazy!   There are 5 Missionaries headed to Mozambique, 4 Elders and 1 Sister. We are all leaving Monday morning at 5am and we arrive in Mozambique the next day (Tuesday) at about 9pm at night. Haha! so like 27 hours of flying:)  We are traveling from Salt Lake to Georgia then Georgia to Johannesburg and Johannesburg to Mozambique. But we don`t Know when our visa’s come in so keep a prayer in your heart that mine wil...
