Week #82 - The Lord is in Charge, so Everything Will Be Ok!

We have been running around all week, but we still were able to teach people.  We had 2 baptisms on Saturday.  They are great guys.  We are working out how and when to have them receive the Holy Ghost.  Church was canceled Sunday.  The Bishops and Stake President were trying to figure out how to get the sacrament to people.  We were not allowed to go to homes.  We had to stay in and have church and the sacrament by ourselves.

Our zone had 27 baptisms so far - our goal was 32.  We were close.  We are not sure what will happen.  We hear that the sickness is in South Africa and another country next to us.   I am not sure what anyone will do if they get it.  I have had a hard time sleeping.  I wake up and can't get back to sleep for hours.  I think it is because I am thinking about so many things.

We are hearing crazy things happening with the coronavirus.  Not sure what is real and what is people just being scared.   Is everything shut down there?  Are you just staying home?  I get a call every day from one of the new missionaries wondering what is happening.  The missionaries are concerned, but the new missionaries are kinda freaking out. I am just trying to help the missionaries stay calm and we are preparing.  All the missionaries have extra money to buy supplies if we have to stay inside for 2 weeks.  We having been helping to get fuel and water and other items.  We would be ok to stay in for 2 weeks, but oh without sports, people, or anything would it be boring!

This big truck got stuck this week next to the church.  We tried multiple times to get it out, but we could not.  It might be there for a while.  The people here don't understand what is happening.  When the church was closed they didn't understand.  I don't think they would understand being quarantined either.  We are preparing for an emergency by renting a bus or chapa if we need to drive the missionaries to Maputo.  It would be a long drive, but 3 of us can drive.  President said we should know more on Tuesday.

I listened to a new message the Prophet sent about the sickness.  He knows what we need and we have been prepared.  He sounded optimistic.  He is a prophet of God and I am grateful to have that knowledge.  The Lord is in charge, so though it is scary sometimes, everything will be ok.

Love,
Elder Rees
