Week #64 - The Work Moves Forward...even with Zombies!
It's been a good week. Lots of work in the area and we continue to find lots of people who want to learn more.
The energy has fallen every day this week! Such a pain! I have been eating ok. We have been trying to buy good food. I eat probably 15-20 apples a week. They are cheap. I eat them with peanut butter (protein!!) and that is expensive to buy. You know the chewy vitamins you sent me at the beginning of the mission? Well, all the missionaries thought it was candy and they ate them all. I kept telling them that you have to be careful because it was not candy, but they did not care. So, I don't have vitamins now, but I did for a little bit.

Tuesday - We found a man named Edmilson. He's been coming to church. Friday we marked him for a Baptismal date. We returned home at 2200 that night and had walked home from some areas. The next day we heard there was a killing in the area. We usually hear about this so we confirmed it with the security guard at the church. He said yes there was one at 2130 on the same road we had been walking on just 30 min later. We called President and now we have to be in by 2100. I know we are protected. Sadly the next day when we were out we walked past the body in the ditch. it is was so sad.
Wednesday - President called and asked Elder Silva and I to go to an area that is close, Chamba that does not have any missionaries there and to teach the people there too. We spent the day there teaching and working with the people. We have been doing tons of work. So on 23 of Nov. we have 5 people from Chamba on date. These people are longing for the Savior in their lives! We did grab some ice cream that night. That is one bonus of having a car!!
Thursday - I talked with my sister, Sister Rees!!! She's home can you believe it!! It made me homesick for sure, but I do love being a missionary. We had lessons and ate dinner with a member that night.
Friday - We had tons of run around getting water and helping the new missionaries get here safe. It was run around at the airport and stuff.
Saturday - We are getting our people ready to be baptized. And I am getting ready to go to Maputo next week! I'm pumped!!
Sunday - Church was great, and english class was great we have about 20 people coming. It was an awesome experience teaching about testimonies and the gospel.
Do you remember me sharing with you about the big huge deserted building, the Grand Hotel in Beira? We were driving by there at night and I am not kidding. I felt like I was in a zombie movie. I have never seen so many people walking around and they were struggling. I am sure homeless. I have heard that 3000 homeless people live there. So scary!!
We are so excited to meet with Elder Holland. I will be in 3 different meetings with him. I hope to just soak up his spirit and power! There are 4 families that are tied to the American Embassy and he is going to meet with them. They have been here 3 years. How would all of you like to live here?? Maputo is a different area than anywhere I have served. It has much better services and stores. So maybe it would not be too bad.
When I walk down the street sometimes people are afraid of me! Really, they are scared of me because of my light skin. It is sad to see how terrified they are, especially the youth. We try and console them and let them know that I am nice, but some cannot get over it.
Even with all the craziness, I love being a missionary and going out every day and preaching the gospel! The gospel is True and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to serve and to bring other unto Christ, I love learning about the faith Nephi had to always continue even though he saw the out come of hard things in the future. love you guys and talk to ya next week
