Week # 28 - The Lightning was Scary!

We traveled to Nampula for a conference this week.  We gathered with hundreds and hundreds of Mozambique Members and some that are interested in the church.  It was amazing to have everyone together.  We brought down with us close to 50 people from Nacala.  Half of them were members, the others were people just investigating.  It was a very bumpy and squishy ride with all the people in the Chapa Van - it lasted 3 hours.  We crammed like 20 people in the van. Riding these vans is high key unsafe!  They are terrible, but that is all they have.  I don't like riding in them, but oh well... I thought my leg was gonna fall off, but it was all good in the end when we finally arrived!

I bought a speaker so I can listen to the voice over recording you sent. Thanks, that is really cool to hear your voice!  Not as good as talking with you, but better than nothing.  Something really cool after our day finished at like 2100 hours.  I made mash potatoes and they turned out just like yours Mom! They tasted almost exactly the same, it was so awesome. President Senna came up and it was sweet.  We went and ate at a way fancy restaurant with him.

Dad you are probably in better shape then me right now, haha!  I'm gaining the weight, not losing it. It is kinda hard to eat well out here.  I could be eating healthier, but its hard when all week you just work and you really want a good snack to look forward to every night.  Junk food is easy to get here.  It is the healthy food that is so hard!!

I think I've realized part of the reason why I am serving in Mozambique for my mission.  It is for me to learn PATIENCE.  Everything is so slow here.  Not sure Dad would like it, haha.  The internet is crazy slow and it just takes a lot of time to get places because we walk everywhere.  The people are so cool, but they have a different idea of time too.  I'm really starting to understand the people and use my Portuguese.  I just need to speak more!!  I work on learning it better every day!.

We have a marriage planned for this month.  We are way excited about it, but its really difficult to do it so hopefully it pulls through.  President came up and hung out with us this week on Tuesday, and he took us to a fancy restaurant and got lunch.  The rain just started coming and coming.   It was so bad.  You wouldn't believe the weather here!! It's been crazy this whole week.  It was just stormy, like the worst storm I've ever seen in my life.  The thunder and lightning was so bad.  Tons of lightning like heat lightning flashes every 5 or 6 seconds all night long. I saw a strike about 50 meters away from me on the other side of a building, kinda freaky. And the rain was just as bad.

Kaden, congrats with blessing the Sacrament for the 1st time.  That is way awesome. That's so weird, I feel like that was just me not to long ago. I also saw that sweet jacket  Kaden had on.. Go jazz..

And the Aggies! Are they in the March Madness bracket! That is so awesome.

Please tell them I miss the family, I continue to pray for so many of them.  I have to go now.  We have already been here for like 6 hours on the internet.... :(

Com Amor,

Elder Rees
