Week #3 - Fires & the Spirit

What a Week.. It is flying by. I cant believe its almost week 4!!
There are some bad fires down here. At night you can see the flames on the top of the mountain and whenever we are studying outside ashes cover us.

This week has been such a spiritual week.  Our 20 minute lesson went really well and for the first time in a while I felt the spirit in a actual Portuguese lesson.  At the end of the lesson I bore my testimony and added some stuff that I didn't really know I could piece together like that. At the end the Lady we were teaching gave us some advice and told me that she loved my testimony, She said with "how far you guys are into the MTC your doing pretty well".

The fields have been open for a while and we always go play some volleyball (sand-volleyball) with all the elders in the district and some in the zone.  Man the games get heated and I love it haha.

I've been doing lots of studying this week, both Portuguese and In the Book of Mormon.  Sometimes I wish it could just study the Book of Mormon because it has given me so much advice on how to live my life. One thing we read yesterday during Sunday School was that the book of Mormon is the Key to Missionary work and to life.
The book just has so many scriptures that can brighten your day and keep you in a good mood.  I guess that is the Spirit!

Last night was probably the coolest thing ever. We watched a talk from elder Holland and you know him - He's hilarious, he's serious, and he is way direct! He is not afraid to tell you the things on his mind.  The talk made me laugh out loud and almost had me in tears from laughing.  He talked about how missionaries should be missionaries the rest of their life and that a mission isn't to pause life but its to start life.
He talked about how us as missionaries should trust in Heavenly Father more and be willing to take a leap of faith. Its kind of hard to tell you everything in a email about it, but it was so powerful... Trust me..

I got called down to the office the other day with all the other elders going to Mozambique.  We were all freaking out because we thought our visa's came in. When we got to the front desk they told us to head to the travel desk in the other building. We were all so excited! but when we got there it was just paper work and fingerprint stuff, so we were pretty bummed out. And that has been about the craziest thing that has happened this week. haha

Today I went to the temple and the spirit was so strong. I went in with some questions and came out with many answers that fit perfectly with what I need in my life. I am so grateful that the Missionaries get to attend the temple on P-Day and I am so grateful that the temple is the House of the Lord.  I know that you can feel the spirit if you

attend the temple regularly. And you can get any question that you have answered if you go in with a humble heart.

Thanks for all the Prayers
Elder Rees
