Week #1 - First Week in the MTC!!
Its been a dream here in the MTC. I can't even believe its been a week. So many crazy things have happened. My distirct consists of about 14 missionaries headed to Brazil and there are 3 other elders headed to Mozambique so im not alone.
Wednesday- I got dropped off, said my goodbyes to my family, and within 20 minutes of getting here I was in class Learning about the MTC. When I got back to my Housing I met elder Hancock. My companheiro! He is from Arizona and is pretty similar to me, He loves to play football, run track and he rides broncos and is nationally ranked!
Thursday- Well we wake up ever morning at about 6:00 so that kinda new. We study for about 30 minutes go to breakfast then to class for about 3 hours everyday before lunch. after lunch we just have more classes untill we have personal study. I had a really cool experience just getting to know some of the Elders in my district. During study time myself Elder Hancock, Elder Turner and Elder Stettler studied for about 3 hours straight and wow I never knew how much I could get out of the Book Of Mormon In that amount of time.
Friday- It was very difficult day with learning the language, we are going way faster than I thought. We have been practicing to say a very simple prayer an a basic conversation but its coming to me slowly I just need some time. Today was a pretty great day because we got gym time for the first time, and you can probably guess what I was doing.. playing Basketball with my district. Its kinda cool but Elder Turner is from Layton hes such a great kid and hes a baller so its pretty fun to play with him. And that night at dinner I saw Sister Rees! it was so fun to see her, i got to talk to her for about 10ish minutes and then we had to go to our other classes.
Saturday- Elder Hancock and I did a mock teaching today. I was pretty nervous before but it wasn`t a huge deal. I started out and said a basic prayer and shared my testimony, but at half way I froze up and had to look back at my book. The language is way hard for me the hardest part is pronouncing the words correctly. later that night I was reading Enos about how he wrestled with god and prayed in mighty prayer, I`ve found out that i can do this but its going to be a challenge for me and I cant wait to see what the future holds.
Sunday- Well you all Know it was fast Sunday and In the MTC they kept us way busy. We went to 6 meetings that day from 7am to 9pm a long day of sitting and feeling the spirit. I loved every second of it. Elder Hancock and I decided we wanted to try out choir and what a great decision it was. We sang praise to the man, one of my all time favorites. And with 942 missionaries all singing it at the same time made it sound like the Mormon tabernacle Choir. Plus all day everything was in English haha
Im so thankful for this gospel and what it is in my life. I know that with prayer anything is possible and what a chance it is to be a representative of Jesus Christ and wear his name on my badge everyday. I love you all
Elder Rees
